Goerli

Proof-of-Authority Testnet for the Ethereum Mainnet

Use Cases

Testing Environment for the Ethereum Mainnet.

Description

Goerli is an Ethereum test network that allows for blockchain development testing before deployment on Mainnet, the main Ethereum network.

The Proof-of-Authority test network was established in March 2019. It uses the Clique consensus mechanism, and was originally proposed by Chainsafe and Afri Schoedon.

The network is maintained by the Goerli community, and supported by Geth, Parity, Nethermind and Hyperledger Besu.

We prefer Ethereum Goerli over Kovan to test for Mainnet due to Goerli’s increased network size, the number of nodes and the variety of clients.
