Dear Anyblock Analysts,
all good things must come to an end and the same is true for disk space…
If you’re only using our API (RPC and Data), Alerting or Dashboards and do not use the SQL Server, there is nothing to do and things will keep working as expected!
In the last months we indexed and enriched a vast amount of blockchain data and enabled you to discover, search and analyze every bit of information using either our comprehensive API, our PostgreSQL Database, our Dashboards or oftentimes all of these.
But with the Ethereum Mainnet slowly reaching 6 Terabytes of raw data and the enriched data being way over 10 Terabytes already, we’re slowly running out of disk space on our PostgreSQL server.
Therefore we decided to move to a Citus based Database Cluster.
This has some obvious benefits, like more processing power and faster indices because the data is now sharded over multiple servers which leads to overall faster queries and indexing performance.
On the other hand, the data is now sharded over multiple servers, which means some more advanced queries that require data from different sources may require different approaches.
To make the transition as smooth as possible, we will keep the old server running for some time, until we have worked out the quirks of the new system with all of you.
Sadly we can no longer store all data on the old server, so we’ll remove everything except Ethereum Mainnet. All existing data will of course still be on the new server.
The next steps will therefore be:
- Make the old server available at sql.anyblock.net:45432
- Switch sql.anyblock.tools to the new Cluster. This will also change the database port from 45432 to the default 5432.
- Remove all databases except Ethereum Mainnet from the old server
- Shut down the old database server
The data will still be updated on both servers and your existing credentials will be migrated, so except from changing the host and port, there is no immediate action required for your Mainnet SQL production use cases.
Everyone else should start migrating their scripts as soon as possible.

On behalf of the whole Anyblock team, I’m wishing you happy holidays, stay safe and hack the planet!
All the best from cold Germany ❄️,
